How your 2025 Christmas Tree can help towards the purchase of the Rothbury Estate!

This year, you have the opportunity to choose your tree and donate any amount you are comfortable with.

For over ten years, Alan Winlow has been growing lovely Nordmann Fir trees for a great purpose. He chose to plant this species as they make perfect Christmas trees - their needles do not drop! They are attractive and a great shape. Imagine your star, fairy, or angel on the top of this beauty!

Alan began the small fir tree plantation with the idea of raising funds when the trees are cut. Last year the Hospice was the recipient. But this year Alan is very pleased to be raising money for the purchase of the Rothbury Estate by the Wildlife Trusts.

“Hearing about the purchase of the western side of Estate, and the potential of buying the remainder, has been the best news for Nature, and for the people of Coquetdale' Alan explains. 'I know that the farmers are in conversation with the Trust about their future, and that the Trust is listening to, and working with, everyone affected. The vision for the Estate is inspirational and full of positivity and hope'.

The Wildlife Trusts still hope to raise the £30M needed to purchase the rest, with the purpose of nature recovery. “A place where people and nature can thrive side by side”. Mike Pratt, CEO, says: “The Rothbury Estate will come to play a key role in revitalising local economies, delivering multiple societal and environmental benefits - and it'll provide the most amazing example for the rest of the country on a scale not seen before. We're all absolutely delighted to be part of securing this precious piece of natural heritage for the nation and we want to hear from everyone who is keen to support our appeal.”

This Yuletide you can choose and collect your own Christmas tree, while contributing to this amazing opportunity. There are not many trees available, however, so it will be a case of 'First Come, First Served'.

There are trees at about 5 and 6 feet tall which can be cut. There are smaller trees which could be dug out and put into a pot, if you so choose.

We can arrange for you to choose your tree by contacting Alan. We will be taking donations for the trees at the beginning of December as The Big Give have promised to double your contribution. To arrange, email Alan on [email protected] or phone on 07507 373237
